If you have been following me for some time, you know that I am a fierce advocate for women at work. After my own traumatic workplace abuse experience, I have spent countless hours helping other women in similar situations. Sadly it’s very common.
I am excited to share that I am now officially offering employment law services in California. A few areas of my initial focus:
Identifying smear campaigns / workplace defamation
Gendered ageism and other forms of discrimination
Psychological abuse / gaslighting / harassment
Whistleblowing, especially regarding “food tech”
Deep understanding of NDAs / ensuring you are not silenced
Media training and connections for making your story public
Assisting “behind the scenes” to negotiate your severance.
While my specialty is working with food sector (including non-profit) employees, I can help anyone in California. I want to dispel a few myths that people commonly have about contacting a lawyer:
Lawyers are too expensive. While it’s true that lawyers can be costly, many offer flexible fee structures. I will do my best to work within your budget by offering sliding scale rates and other reasonable approaches.
Getting a lawyer means you will sue your employer. Not necessarily. The reason to contact a lawyer is simply to understand your rights to make informed and strategic decisions. I will help you feel empowered to make the best choice for your particular situation. Often that means negotiating a severance package or other settlement.
My employer will never budge. You would be surprised at how employers can change their tune once contacted by an attorney. They want to avoid lawsuits.
Whatever your situation, I promise to listen, be a source of support, and get you to resolution as quickly as possible. As I recently wrote about, 2024 is shaping up to be a tough year, with many layoffs coming especially in the food sector. So you want to make sure you know your rights.
