Awakening Your Intuition: A Course for White Women

I am thrilled to share that I am co-facilitating an important course with my friend and colleague, Francesca James.

Course details: 5 Saturdays, October 14-November 11, 8:00-9:30am PT.

First a little about my journey that brought me to this point.

In the several years since experiencing a severe form of workplace trauma I have been on both a healing and discovery journey. As part of both, I shifted my social media towards those speaking truth to power. Not only did the content of my feed shift, so did the voices. Now I was learning from, and being inspired by, Black and brown women who were not afraid to speak their truths. 

When I started to speak out myself, I noticed a lack of support from most of the white women in my own circles. A few even asked me *not* to tag them, although we had spoken privately about sexism in our field. That's when I realized that white women, we have a problem. Why are we allowing, even expecting, those who are most marginalized to do the heavy lifting? Why are we white women remaining silent, when we are experiencing, and even playing a role in, so much injustice?

It's time to change that. As white women, we need to heal our own traumas, so that we can join others in speaking out about the problems all around us. That's why I was thrilled when Francesca James reached out to me to collaborate on this course. She saw something in me that was aching to come out. To be a guide, to help other white women break free as I have. 

Why a course on intuition?

As white women, we are programmed our entire lives not to listen to our inner voice. Instead, we are taught to perform at an impossibly high level, not for ourselves, but for others: first for our parents, then for our friends, for teachers, our spouses, even for our children. Must be the perfect daughter, student, wife, and especially mom!

These messages are drilled into us so that we are sure to uphold the strictures of a white, patriarchal, capitalist system that benefits others far more than ourselves. Along the way, we lose touch with who we really are and what makes us happy and fulfilled as human beings, and most importantly we lose connection to others.
