Just a quick note to share that I am quoted in the current print issue of VegNews. (Anyone remember paper magazines?) The article is about ageism in the vegan movement, which is rampant.
Here is part of my quote:
I started a very successful business network after a long career in advocacy, but have found consulting to be challenging. I am 58, at the top of my game and have never been more confident in my abilities to contribute. And I know many other women in my age group with similar experiences. The vegan “boys club”, which hoards funding, also contributes to discrimination in the field more widely.
I was just speaking with a friend about it last night; how we both have so much wisdom to share and yet somehow, it doesn’t matter. This hurts everyone in the movement, and obviously does not help the cause. If you care about saving animals, people’s health, the environment, and all the amazing reasons we know our diets need to shift to more plant-based, we need to include everyone in the effort.
Many thanks to VegNews and the awesome writer, Marla Rose, for covering this important topic. You can read the article in PDF format below.
And please feel free to share your thoughts and experiences.
